Materials:

  • Ribbon

  • Pie tin

  • Water

  • Food coloring

  • Organic materials such as berries or leaves

What to do:

  1. Make a loop with a ribbon or string and place it in a pie tin. Leave at least 5 inches of the looped end hanging over the edge.

  2. Fill the pie tin with water then add a few drops of food coloring to the water and mix it around.

  3. Add berries, leaves, pine cones or other materials for your suncatcher to the water.

  4. Let the materials fall into place, or arrange them in a design.

  5. Put the pie tin in the freezer, or if it's cold enough leave it outside to freeze.

  6. When the water is completely frozen, carefully remove the ice from the tin.

Now your project is ready to catch some rays! Hang your suncatcher from an outdoor windowsill or a tree outside for everyone to admire.
