Head Outside for a Spring Scavenger Hunt

Updated: Mar 9, 2023

Spring is here! The days are getting longer, and plants and animals are emerging for the new season. Head outside to look for the many signs of spring. Challenge your senses. See, hear, smell and feel the world around you.

Look high, look low and look in between. Concentrate on using your peripheral vision to scan for movement further in the background. Try closing your eyes to increase your focus on what you hear, smell and feel.

You can play I Spy with a friend, or try a game of I Feel. Have your friend close their eyes while you use descriptive words to explain what you feel, then let your friend open their eyes and try to discover what you just touched.

You can also print out the scavenger hunt below, create your own scavenger hunt or just keep a tally of all the things you observe with your senses. Things can change fast in the spring! Repeat the same route on different days and notice the differences.

When you are finished, treat your sense of taste to a delicious snack or beverage!

Enjoy the great outdoors with your family or friends while searching for signs of spring. Walk around your neighborhood or visit one of the many forest preserves in Will County. There are miles and miles of trails in beautiful and diverse preserves. Looking for something to do this spring? Check out our event calendar loaded with in-person opportunities for you and your family.
